Q: How will race "heats" be determined?‚Äč

Upon registering on RunSignUp, you will be prompted to entered a "seed time" - a rough estimate on what you think your current fitness level is for a mile race. We will form "heats" based off of seed times to ensure you are running with people of similar fitness and ability.

Q: Do I have to be a miler to run The Monmouth Mile?

Nope! Setting a mark for the mile distance is appropriate for any runner!! 

Q: Do I have to enter to watch the races?

Not racing? No problem! We want the stands packed. Join us all night long for a unique perspective of track & field - including elite mile races to cap off the night!

Q: How does registration pricing work?

The Monmouth Mile uses a graduated pricing structure. The first 25 participants to sign up receive the cheapest registration price of $13, the next 50 are at $15 and the remaining participants are $17. Race day sign up is $20.  Sign up early for the best pricing!!

Q: It is a track race. Do I need to wear spikes?

While speed is the name of the game, spikes are not required to run the Monmouth Mile. 

Q: What is the schedule for the night?

Races start promptly at 6PM. Slower heats will begin first and gradually get faster as the night progresses. The night will culminate with the elite mile race. Click here for a rough schedule of the night.

Q: How do I get my bib number?

Bib numbers will be available on race day only. Please allow ample time before the event to make sure you can grab your bib and properly warm up before your heat goes off. 

Q: How will my time be recorded?

All races at The Monmouth Mile will be timed by Viper Timing. Times will be FAT (full automatic timing). We're fancy. 

Q: Is there an age restriction for The Monmouth Mile?

There is no age or ability limit, but you should be able to run a mile comfortably. There is a 100m and 400m for the younger athletes if parents find that distance more appropriate. Use your noodle. 

Q: Is there race day registration?

Yes - there is race day registration available on on site from 4:30PM-5:30PM.

Q: How do I know what heat I am in?

Heats will be assigned closer to race day. You will be made aware of your heat race day during bib pickup. We will do our best to group similar ability levels together for the heat assignments.

Q: I've signed up, but can't race. Can I get a refund?

Sorry to hear you can't run. Unfortunately there are no refunds for race entry fees.
